2017 Miami Valley Underclass Game

UPDATED 3/5/17- We will be honoring all of the seniors who were named to the first-team all-area in between games. Invites have been going out to the seniors in all 4 divisions to come together for one last time to celebrate their success with The Dabbelt Report.

The 2017 Jim Dabbelt Miami Valley Underclass Game is scheduled for Thursday, March 23 at Urbana High School. Again this year, Jim Dabbelt and Urbana head coach Bill Moss will be the hosts of this event.

The gametimes for this event are 6:00 p.m. Division 1-2 game, 7:30 p.m. Division 3-4 game. The compete and finalized rosters are below.

Last year there were over 30 college coaches lined along the wall watching the talent in the Dayton area, it is expected to be the same kind of response this year with the incredible talent that will be in the gym on that night.

There is no charge for the players to be a part of this event, but admission is $5.

Raffle For Logan: One of the coolest things about this special evening is the ability to give back. On this night, we will be putting together a very special raffle to help a coutageous young man.

A few weeks ago, West Liberty Salem student Logan Cole was injured in a terrible school shooting which has left him recovering and trying to get back to his life. Logan is back in school and recovering.

With the incredible burden that is now on this family during his recovery, we will be doing a raffle where everyone who donates will be given a ticket and could walk away with a cool raffle prize.

This will be updated as needed, but here is the list of who is planning to donate items to the auction:

  • A Strive to be Tiger Strong shirt signed by the entire West Liberty Salem girls basketball team.
  • Another Strive shirt signed by all 40 of the girls participating in the all-star game, along with director Jim Dabbelt.
  • An authentic on-field jersey from former MLB pitcher Joe Crawford, who recently retired after 13 years coaching with the Milwaukee Brewers. Joe will be present coaching one of the all-star teams, and will personally sign the jersey for the winner.
  • 3-time Olympic gold medal winner (and Logan, Ohio native) Katie Smith who is the all-time leading scorer in professional womens basketball history with over 7,000 points, is expected to contribute to the auction. Katie is an Ohio State grad.
  • Also expected to add to the auction are both the Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun of the WNBA.
